Katina Pinkama Programme

 

5.30am – Arrive at temple

 

5.45am – Perahera taking the Katina wasthra [cloth for the robes] to be offered to the monks

 

6.30am – Buddha puja and offering of Katina wasthra after which it is given back to the community to be sewn into a robe

 

7.00am – Heel dana for the venerable monks

 

Sewing of robe commences in the old awasa building. This has to be completed before midday.

 

Five venerable monks from the Burmese monasteries will be participating in the Katina ceremony making a total of ten venerable monks.

 

10.30am – The Venerables go on pindapatha from the monks’ awasa to the Shrine room.

 

11.00am – Buddha puja followed by offering of dana and pirikara and the Katina sivura

 

12.00pm – Katinanisansa bana
